עתירה לבג"ץ: לפנות את מתחם האנטנות בחיפה

ראש העיר חיפה, יונה יהב, ומאה מתושבי העיר, עתרו בשבוע שעבר לבג"ץ נגד משרד הביטחון בדרישה לפנות באופן מיידי את מתחם השידור הצבאי "פלנורד" בשכונת רמת אלמוגי. בעתירה טוענים עורכי הדין אדם פיש וגילי יופה שהתושבים נמצאים בסיכון בריאותי בגלל רמות הקרינה האלקטרו-מגנטית שפולטים מתקני השידור הרבים ובהם מתקן קשר ואנטנה של גלי צה"ל. כן נטען שמערכת הביטחון לא עמדה בהבטחותיה בעבר לפנות את המתחם.
ממשרד הביטחון נמסר כי "המשרד מממן ומפעיל באמצעות המשרד לאיכות הסביבה מתקן לניטור קרינה באיזור ומבדיקות עולה בבירור שלא היתה חריגה מהתקנים. המשרד פועל להעתקת אנטנת גלי צה"ל למתחם בזק בעוד כחצי שנה, אז יושלם ייצור אנטנה חלופית בארה"ב. בנוגע למתקן הקשר - המשרד פועל מול עיריית חיפה ומינהל מקרקעי ישראל, להעתקתו".

Haifa appeals to remove allegedly hazardous radio station

A hundred Haifa residents, together with Mayor Yona Yahav, lodged an appeal with the High Court of Justice on Thursday, demanding that the Defense Ministry remove the allegedly dangerous Palnord broadcasting station that is used by the Israel Defense Forces.
The appeal states that the station poses a health hazard to 5,000 nearby residents, as well as 500 students from Einstein High School. The danger is caused by electromagnetic radiation emitted by the station's transmitters.
The plaintiffs stated that a radiation expert measured dangerously high levels of EM radiation four months ago.
The appellates also said that they are living in constant fear, and that the value of their residences has decreased as a result of the transmitters.
The appeal included a complaint that the IDF has repeatedly promised to vacate the Palnord installation, but failed to do so. A year and a half ago, a Haifa resident made a similar appeal to transfer the installation. The Defense Ministry promised to do so within a year, but did not
Ten years ago the IDF agreed to remove AM wavelength antennas in order to reduce the radiation level, but the plaintiffs maintain that the radiation remains hazardous.
The Defense Ministry stated in response that, "they fund and operate, in tandem with the Environment Ministry, a local radiation monitoring device. The monitor's record shows that the radiation in the area falls within safe limits as defined by the Environment Ministry. With respect to the Army Radio antennas, they are to be transferred within six months, by which time a new antenna built in the U.S. will be ready. As for the communications installation, the Defense Ministry is cooperating with the Haifa municipality to move it to another location."
